Facebook redesign goes live

80 million+ members-including social site Facebook has now received a previously-promised makeover and it is said to provide users with a cleaner and more simpler design. Now available in tandem with the 'old' site, the tweaked Facebook can be accessed by a limited number of members but everyone will get to try it out in the coming days.

The redesign includes a better integration of third-party applications, enhanced feed technology for the Wall, extra customization options for the stories published in the member's profile page, a Publisher feature which enables users to add photos, upload video, or write notes, all from one location and a splitting of the Profile menu in order to include four tabs - Wall, Info, Photos and Boxes.

"We've made the changes rolling out today in order to highlight the most recent and relevant information that users value, give users even more control and ownership over their profiles and simplify the user experience," said Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg. "Facebook's new design makes it a lot easier for users to share information, and we encourage them to check it out."
