Matrox stretches TripleHead2Go to 5040x1050 pixels

Montreal (Canada) – Matrox today launched triple widescreen modes for its TripleHead2Go Digital Edition box, which enables computer enthusiasts to combine three widescreen displays for a maximum screen resolution of 5040 x 1050 pixels.

We were impressed when Matrox introduced its TripleHead2Go hardware in March of 2006, but besides the introduction of a digital edition model, we have heard little news since then. The manufacturer today addressed one of the key criticisms by adding widescreen modes to its box.

The TripleHead2Go Digital Edition now supports 3x1680x1050 and 3x1440x900, supporting a maximum resolution of 5.3 megapixels. The new mode is enabled via a firmware upgrade (v2.3.40), which is available as a free download from the Matrox website.

Matrox said that the TripleHead2Go is compatible with select (DX10) Nvidia and ATI GPUs running under Windows XP or Windows Vista. According to the manufacturer, more than 250 games currently support the TripleHead2Go screen combination feature.
