Splinter Cell Conviction Delayed

Splinter Cell Conviction, the next installment in Ubisoft's blockbuster Tom Clancy stealth game series, won't be seen until sometime after April 1, 2009. That's the word from Ubisoft, who needs a little more time to take this franchise in a newer direction.

In Splinter Cell Double Agent, game hero Sam Fisher had to balance keeping the trust of the terrorists he infiltrated and his government bosses. Game endings varied depending on things you did along the way.

But as far as the storyline for Conviction, it looks like Fisher did too good a job convincing folks he was a criminal. The game takes place two years after the events of Double Agent and sees Fisher come out of hiding to help old friend Anna. He finds Third Echelon in pretty bad shape, so of course it falls to Fisher to do what must be done.
