DC Comics and Warner Bros. Pictures today announced plans to publish a downloadable episodic videogame based on the latter's upcoming feature film, Watchmen, which is based on the graphic novel of the same name.
“We’re bringing the Watchmen universe to gamers in a distinct episodic game revealing action and combat for a great overall experience for fans,” said Samantha Ryan, SCP, Production and Development at Warner Bros.
“The filmmakers have been extremely helpful in developing the high-quality game story and we are working to match the outstanding visual style of the film.”
Currently slated for launch on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and the PC in 2009, Watchmen is described as a “mature action-brawler” that will “go beyond the film and delve into the characters, rivalries and challenges” of its namesake.
